Geiger Cars Tuning Camaro SS Kompressor
Remember German tuner Geiger Cars? Famous for their Martini-liveried, 423-bhp supercharged Hummer H3 as well as their twin-turbocharged 1000-bhp Corvette Z06. Now, following tuning jobs on both the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, Geiger is wrapping up its modern muscle trio with a supercharged 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS.
Fresh off the plane from Michigan, a 2010 Camaro SS was received by the Geiger boys, who quickly installed a supercharger and a custom stainless steel exhaust system with free-flow catalytic converters, pushing output to 423kw (568 bhp) and a stunning 589 lb-ft of torque. Sensibly, Geiger saw fit to upgrade the Camaro’s suspension and brake components to keep the Camaro’s newfound power under control, so a full coil-over suspension with firmer damping rates was installed along with adjustable anti-sway bars front and rear. Six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers replace the standard Brembo equipment, and larger, slotted brake discs are fitted at all four corners behind 22-in. wheels. The tires are meaty 265/30/22s up front and 295/25/22s out back.
But the changes don’t stop there. Geiger Cars also provides a twin-plate sports clutch that is better able to cope with the copious amounts of torque the Camaro now produces. Finally, the final drive ratio is reduced, allowing for a top speed of 314 kmh. Not fresh on your metric conversion? We did the math for you: That’s 195 mph. Geiger reminds us that that’s faster than its own hometown hero, the Porsche 911 GT3. Duly noted.
Geiger didn’t mention how much their uber-Camaro costs – or if you can buy one Stateside – but regardless, it’s nice to see that the American muscle car has a following across the pond.
